Site News 2007
On this page I'll let you all know about the latest updates to the site. I also have a sub-forum on the site's forum that will do the same thing. I try to keep the site fresh and updated frequently so check back on this page regularly to see what the latest updates are. This section was getting a bit long so I've taken any site news from before January this year and put it in an archive section which can be found on the following page:-
:: Archive news from 2006

:: Latest News

30th August
Added a link to the Manufacturers section for CJM Models. Chris Marchant makes some of the most highly sought after bespoke N Gauge British outline modern image models and the news that his company now has a website will be a welcome one for modern image N Gauge modellers everywhere. Also removed the link for N-Train is it's not working at the moment (the website is in the process of being moved to a new webhost). I am also extremely pleased to have been awarded today, after many months of effort with the site's design, content and coding, with the Smokin' Award's highest award, the Gold Smokin' Award. The graphic for this - and link back to the awarding site - can be found in the Awards section.
29th August
Added a new link to the Links section for the Nottingham (Bullwell) Model Railway Society.
19th July
Added the link once more back to Nutsplitter's site on the Awards page for the Award from the Nutsplitter's Great Site Award after having removed it due to the link redirecting to a dodgy website.
24th June
Added the link once more back to Waldovia State Railways on the Awards page for the Award from the Waldovia Award Scheme after having removed it while the site was under reconstruction.
June 11
Added a link to the Links section for the Rail Blue website which is dedicated to the BR Blue era of British Railways. Handy seeing as that is the era I intend to model.
June 9
A new page, Webrings, has been added to the site where any and all webrings that this site belongs to will be listed rather than cluttering up the home page - and increasing the page size for those on dialup connections. A link has also been added to the Links section for Rails USA.
June 8
Well, I'm extremely pleased to have been awarded the Australian Model Railway Association's "Great Site Award". This site is only the third currently active site to have been awarded this award since they changed the criteria for it in 2003. The award can be found in the Awards section.
June 4
The site has been awarded the Railroad Artists Award. This has been added to the Awards section with a link back to the awarding site.
June 2
Added a link to the site forum on the home page where the forum is mentioned in the site introduction. Also added a link on the Concept page to a Google Maps page that shows the Isle of Sheppey for visitors who may be unfamiliar with the island.
May 31
Added links to three new sites to the Links section, all of which provide prototypical information on UK railways that are of great use to the railway modeller trying to model modern image British Railways - Wagons on the Web, the Southern E-Group and Departmental Stock.
May 28
Added another link to the Links section for Trainz, an online trains biased web search engine and links site.
May 27
Added a link to the Links section for the Model Railroads.Net online resources directory. Also added a favicon to the website so that an old-style BR sign is displayed in the address bar when visiting the site.
May 24
Removed the link to Rail Links. On looking at the site, it seems to have been abandoned. It hasn't been updated since November 2005 and the site doesn't respond to e-mails either.
May 20
Added an image link to the site for the Rail Links website and the site has joined the Rail webring so a navbar can be found at the bottom of the home page. The Track Plan page has also been updated with a link to a site in the UK that has been given permission by the authors of XTrkCAD to host the program and list the name and keycode that unlocks the full functionality of the program (the program is now freeware but still needs a code to use it fully). This section has been split into a section for site news from this year and an archive section for previous years. Finally, a link to Flaxengate Railway has been added to the Other Layouts page.
May 19
Another e-Rail pass has been received today from Anthony Boyette of the Piedmont & Eastern Carolina Railroad. The pass has been added to the e-Rail pass gallery and can be found on e-Rail Pass Page 5.
May 15
A very basic website feedback form has been added to the site to replace the mailto: link that would result from clicking on the E-mail Shaun link. I'll look to refine the feedback form over coming weeks. (Update: I've now changed this back to the old mailto: link as I haven't quite got my head round the error checking needed for the form as yet).
May 13
Photo added to the Future Plans section of Queenborough Station, a potential future project of mine.
May 12
Individual gallery pages now updated to the new site design, completing the site upgrade. Huzzah!
May 10
The new site design had now been implemented across the site apart from the individual gallery pages.
April 6
Links section changed - again! - to reflect the latest link for Railway Modelling Web.
March 23
Added a link to the Manufacturers section for CR Signals who make colour light signals, lamps and other lighting accessories.
March 22
Added a link to BR Lines' website to the Retailers section. Bob Russell is an ex Farish employee who is the authorised service and repair point of contact for pre-Bachmann produced Farish locos. He also sells Farish spares including Daywat lubrication oil - important now that both Dapol and Farish require correct lubrication of their locos before running in order to comply with their guarantees.
March 17
Link added to the Retailers section for the Gloucester Model Warehouse.
January 30
Two new links added to the Manufacturers page. One for Fox Transfers and the other Chivers Finelines.
January 14
Uploaded a test page with a proposed new style for the web site. The test page can be found here. There's a poll currently running in the forum where visitors to the site can vote on what they think of this new style/theme.
January 1
Link added to the Links section for the National Preservation forum.
